Ok, here's the setup.  The speaker cabinets were miked using an SM 57 at about 6"off the speaker towards the outside rim. The SM 57 went into a Behringer Ultragain Mic Pre with the gain kept at at a nominal level so as not to introduce much  preamp tube distortion.

I used a Jackson JDR-94 Concept 6 string electric guitar, which has an H-S-H  DiMarzio pick up configuration. I used several  pickup combinations, including neck humbucker / middle single coil and bridge humbucker.

The amps were run at normal operating levels which means that the Boogie master was set to about 3 1/2. The Marshall purrs nicely with the master set to about 8 1/2.
